- Day Four, Five - Bandon and Vicinity
First stop was Cape Blanco Lighthouse in operation
with #2 Fresnel lens. This lighthouse is
nice and
well kept. A two dollar admission gets you a tour of the
lighhouse and a walk up to view the lens.

Located directly overhead are a nest of very hungry Barn Swallows.

A nice view looking south.

Daisies line the hill side.

This if followed by a quick trip up the coast to one of our favorite
gardens to see what is new.
This is 'Hot Cocoa', which we've tried growing a couple times.

This is 'Love and Peace'. Haven't tried this one.

'Rainbow Sorbet' was another imprettive HT rose. Might try
this one someday.

There is a hot house for begonias. Not a chance of growing
these.

Or these. Impressive flowers.

Hecada Head Light House sports a First Order Fresnel Lens and is a very
nice lighthouse.
You can reserve rooms in the lighthouse keeper's quarters.
Might have to do that one day.

Another view of the light house. Light houses are manned by
volunteers.
Be prepared for a bit of a hike.

Enough of the tourist stuff. Time to go down to the docks.

Time to get some dinner - Red Rock and Dungenss crab.

Turkey and Chicken legs work well. Lots of small
dungeness crabs. And a couple large Red Rocks in the
first half hour or so.

The disadvantage of these types of trap is they catch everything.
Crab removal can be a challenge.

At least one here is large enough.

I would have had some nice pictures of the particularly nasty Red Rock
crabs but the only batteries
available locally were these batteries, which I never heard of.
Of course, right out of the package
they failed to work They were so weak, the camera flashed on
for about a second then died.
I wonder who manufactured these 'Power Max' batteries....

Why doesn't that surprise me. Tires, Dog Food, Cat Food,
People Food, Batteries. What's Next?

Not Dungeness and Red Rock Crabs. About four pounds of crab straight
from the Oregon coast.

A combined photo of the sun setting.

Sunset.

Breakfast the following morning, followed by one more stop on the way
out of town.
